Important Privacy Commitment

AlertIQ does not sell, rent, or trade your SMS, transaction, balance, account, or financial information.

Your SMS and financial SMS data are processed and stored locally on your device for app functionality. We use SMS content to provide the core features of AlertIQ, such as SMS inbox management, transaction detection, spending insights, reminders, smart alerts, and fraud or suspicious-message awareness.

We do not share your SMS message body, sender details, OTPs, bank balances, transaction amounts, account identifiers, or financial insights with advertisers, analytics providers, or third parties.

1. Introduction & Scope

AlertIQ: Smart SMS App (“AlertIQ”, “app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a smart SMS and financial SMS analysis application. AlertIQ is published under the Google Play developer page name “Happy D Zone”. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, access, use, store, protect, and disclose information when you use AlertIQ and any related website or support page operated by us.

This policy applies to AlertIQ: Smart SMS App and related services published by us on Google Play or other app stores. It is intended to clearly explain our handling of SMS, financial SMS information, permissions, advertising, local storage, user rights, and Google Play Data safety disclosures.

By using AlertIQ, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Core App Functionality

AlertIQ is designed to help users manage SMS messages and understand financial information already present in their SMS inbox. The app may provide features such as:

  • SMS inbox viewing, organization, categorization, and search.
  • Detection of transactional SMS messages, including debit, credit, refund, bill, card, wallet, UPI, banking, and balance-related messages.
  • Spending insights, smart summaries, transaction history, money reminders, and financial alerts generated from SMS content.
  • Fraud, spam, suspicious-message, or risky-message awareness based on message content and sender patterns.
  • Reminder and notification features based on messages, bills, due dates, and user actions.
  • Optional Edge Light visual alerts for financial SMS and incoming calls, when enabled by you.

SMS access is used only for the app’s disclosed core functionality. We do not use SMS or financial SMS data for advertising, ad targeting, resale, profiling by third parties, or any unrelated purpose.

3. Default SMS App and Reader Mode

AlertIQ can operate in one of the following modes:

  1. Default SMS Application
  2. SMS Reader and Analysis Application with SMS permissions granted by the user

When AlertIQ is set as your default SMS application, it may send, receive, organize, store, display, and manage SMS messages as part of its core messaging functionality.

When AlertIQ is not set as your default SMS application, some messaging features may be limited or unavailable. However, SMS viewing, organization, categorization, reminders, transaction analysis, spending insights, financial dashboards, fraud awareness features, and related functionality may continue to operate based on the permissions you grant.

You may change your default SMS application at any time through your Android device settings.

4. Information We Access or Process

Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, AlertIQ may access or process the following information:

5. Local Processing of SMS and Financial Data

AlertIQ is designed with local-first processing for SMS and financial SMS features. This means that transaction detection, SMS categorization, spending summaries, reminders, and financial insights are generated on your device whenever possible.

We do not upload your SMS inbox, SMS message body, bank SMS, OTP messages, transaction amounts, account balances, masked account numbers, or generated financial insights to our servers for advertising, analytics, or resale.

Data created by the app, such as transaction records, categories, reminders, notes, and insights, may be saved in local app storage or local databases on your device so the app can function. If you uninstall the app, this locally stored app data may be deleted by your device operating system unless you separately backed it up using device or cloud backup features outside our control.

6. Edge Light Alerts & Overlay Features

AlertIQ provides an optional Edge Light feature for financial SMS alerts and incoming calls. This feature is completely optional and disabled by default.

When enabled by you, the app may display a visual neon-style border effect around the screen. Different alert types may use different visual effects—for example, debit alerts, credit alerts, transaction alerts, or incoming calls.

To use Edge Light, you must explicitly enable the feature and grant the required permissions described in Section 7. You can disable Edge Light at any time from app settings.

The overlay is used only for visual notifications. It does not interact with, inspect, modify, or capture content from other apps. The overlay is not used for advertising purposes. No screen content is recorded, collected, or transmitted by this feature.

7. Permissions We Use in Our App and Why

AlertIQ: Smart SMS App uses Android permissions only for clearly disclosed SMS, messaging, notification, reminder, financial SMS analysis, and optional Edge Light features.

Important: We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your SMS content, OTPs, bank SMS, transaction amounts, balances, contacts, or financial insights with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

Permission Why We Use It
Notification Access Used so alarms, reminders, message-related notifications, scheduled message alerts, and important app alerts work reliably in the background.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS Used to show notifications for new incoming SMS, scheduled message status, reminders, financial alerts, suspicious-message alerts, and other app alerts. You can control notifications in your device settings.
android.permission.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM Used so scheduled messages, bill reminders, alarms, and time-sensitive alerts run exactly at the time you choose.
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Used to automatically restore and reschedule scheduled messages, reminders, alarms, and bill alerts after your device restarts. Also allows AlertIQ to restore user-enabled reminders, notifications, and Edge Light related services after device restart. Does not automatically enable features that were previously disabled; restores only settings and services previously enabled by you.
android.permission.WAKE_LOCK Used to keep the device awake briefly while receiving messages, sending scheduled messages, showing notifications, or completing reminder tasks.
android.permission.READ_CONTACTS Used to show contact names instead of phone numbers, identify conversations, and let you easily select recipients when composing messages. Contacts are used only for messaging-related features.
android.permission.READ_SMS Used to read existing and new SMS messages so you can view your full message history, search conversations, restore messages inside the app, detect financial SMS, generate spending insights, identify bill dates, and show fraud or suspicious-message awareness.
android.permission.WRITE_SMS Used to save drafts, mark messages as read or unread, update message status, and organize messages in the SMS database when AlertIQ works as your SMS app.
android.permission.SEND_SMS Used to send SMS messages from your device only when you tap send, schedule a message, or use a message-sending feature you choose. We do not send hidden messages.
android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS Used to receive new SMS messages, show them in your conversation list, trigger incoming SMS notifications, detect transaction or reminder-related messages, and update financial SMS insights on your device.
android.permission.RECEIVE_MMS Used only where supported and when AlertIQ operates as a messaging application, so MMS-related conversations can be received or handled as part of SMS/MMS messaging functionality.
android.permission.RECEIVE_WAP_PUSH Used only where supported and when AlertIQ operates as a messaging application, to receive MMS-related WAP push messages required for MMS delivery.
android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Display over other apps) Required to display Edge Light visual alerts above other applications. Used only when you enable Edge Light functionality. Allows visual border notifications for incoming calls and supported financial SMS alerts. Does not read, collect, capture, or modify information displayed by other apps. Not used for advertising overlays. Not used to monitor user activity in other apps.
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE Used to detect incoming and outgoing call state changes for the optional Edge Light call alert feature. Allows AlertIQ to know when a call is ringing, answered, or ended. Does not provide access to call audio, does not record phone calls, does not access call content, and does not collect conversation data. Used solely to trigger visual call-related alerts requested by you.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE, and android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SHORT_SERVICE Used to keep user-enabled Edge Light alert delivery reliable while the app operates in the background. May display a low-priority persistent notification while active. Starts only after you enable supported features and grant required permissions. Stops when you disable the feature or revoke permissions. Does not collect additional personal data. Does not display advertisements. Does not operate without user action or consent.

Local SMS and Financial Data Protection: SMS message body, sender details, OTPs, bank messages, transaction amounts, balances, masked account numbers, contact data used by the app, drafts, reminders, and generated financial insights are mainly stored and processed locally on your device. We do not share this data with advertisers or sell it to third parties.

You can change permissions at any time in your Android device settings. If you remove permissions, some features such as full SMS history, sending SMS, scheduled messages, contact names, financial SMS detection, reminders, notifications, or Edge Light alerts may stop working or may be limited.

8. How We Use Information

We use information only for the purposes described in this policy, including to:

  • Provide SMS inbox, messaging, categorization, search, reminders, and notification features.
  • Detect financial SMS messages and generate transaction insights, spending summaries, bill reminders, and alerts.
  • Identify spam, suspicious, fraudulent, or risky message patterns.
  • Display optional Edge Light visual alerts for financial SMS and incoming calls when you enable that feature.
  • Maintain app reliability, security, diagnostics, crash reporting, and performance.
  • Show ads and measure ad performance, but only using advertising data such as Advertising ID where applicable, not SMS or financial SMS content.
  • Respond to support requests and legal obligations.

9. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not share SMS content or financial SMS data with advertisers.
  • We do not use OTPs, bank messages, transaction messages, balances, or account identifiers for ad targeting.
  • We do not upload your full SMS inbox to our servers for analytics or marketing.
  • We do not allow third parties to read your SMS content through our app for unrelated purposes.
  • We do not collect precise GPS location unless a future feature clearly discloses it and asks for permission.
  • We do not use the Edge Light overlay for advertising or to monitor activity in other apps.
  • We do not record, collect, or transmit screen content through the Edge Light overlay.

10. Third-Party Services

AlertIQ may use trusted third-party services for app distribution, advertising, crash reporting, diagnostics, hosting, or support. These may include services such as Google Play Services, Google AdMob, and crash reporting or diagnostic services where enabled, depending on the app version.

Third-party SDKs may collect device, diagnostics, app interaction, Advertising ID, approximate location, IP address, or similar technical information under their own privacy policies. We configure and use these tools so they do not receive your SMS message body or financial SMS content for advertising or analytics.

Advertising partners may use Advertising ID and limited device information to show and measure ads. You can reset or limit your Advertising ID in Android settings. Ad settings and consent options may vary by region and device version.

11. Data Sharing

We may share limited information only in the following cases:

  • With service providers: For crash reporting, hosting, support, security, and app operations, limited to what is necessary.
  • With advertising partners: Advertising ID, device/app information, approximate location, and ad interaction data may be shared for ad delivery and measurement. SMS and financial SMS content are not shared for ads.
  • For legal reasons: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, security, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • With your consent: If you explicitly choose to share information, such as sending support logs, screenshots, or feedback.

12. Data Retention

SMS messages and financial insights processed by AlertIQ are generally retained locally on your device for as long as the app needs them to provide its features or until you delete them, clear app data, revoke permissions, or uninstall the app.

For financial analysis features, AlertIQ may retain locally generated transaction records, spending summaries, categories, reminders, and financial insights on your device even if the original SMS message is later deleted. This allows dashboards, transaction history, spending summaries, bill reminders, and related financial features to continue functioning correctly. These records remain stored locally on your device and are not shared with advertisers.

Support emails and voluntarily submitted information are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your request, maintain records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.

Advertising and crash data retained by third-party services are handled according to those providers’ retention policies and your consent/settings where applicable.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by AlertIQ. Local app data is protected by your device’s operating system security, screen lock, app sandboxing, and other platform safeguards.

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. You should protect your device with a strong screen lock, keep your operating system updated, avoid installing untrusted apps, and avoid sharing sensitive screenshots or SMS content unnecessarily.

14. Your Choices and Controls

  • Permissions: You can manage SMS, notification, contacts, overlay, phone state, and other permissions in Android settings.
  • Edge Light: You can enable or disable Edge Light and related overlay or call-alert permissions from app settings or Android settings at any time.
  • Default SMS app: You can change your default SMS app in Android settings. Some AlertIQ features require AlertIQ to be the default SMS handler.
  • Delete local data: You can delete messages inside the app where supported, clear app data from device settings, or uninstall the app.
  • Advertising ID: You can reset or delete/limit the Advertising ID through Android/Google settings where available.
  • Notifications: You can disable app notifications in Android settings.
  • Support requests: You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data that you voluntarily submitted to us.

15. Legal Basis for Users in the EU/EEA/UK

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract and requested service: To provide SMS, messaging, financial SMS analysis, reminders, and related app features you request.
  • Consent: For sensitive permissions, optional Edge Light features, personalized ads where applicable, non-essential cookies where required, and support submissions you choose to send.
  • Legitimate interests: To maintain security, prevent abuse, fix bugs, improve reliability, and understand app performance in privacy-preserving ways.
  • Legal obligations: To comply with applicable law, lawful requests, or regulatory requirements.

16. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, withdraw consent, or request portability of personal data. Because SMS and financial data are primarily stored locally on your device, we may not possess that local data on our servers. You can usually delete local data directly from the app or Android settings.

For data you have voluntarily submitted to us, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

EU/EEA/UK users may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

17. Children’s Privacy

AlertIQ is not intended for children under 13 years of age, or a higher age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

18. International Transfers

Where third-party services or support systems process limited technical or support data outside your country, appropriate safeguards may be used as required by applicable law. SMS and financial SMS content used for app functionality is designed to remain local on your device unless you intentionally submit it to us for support or a future feature clearly explains otherwise and obtains required consent.

19. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If we make material changes, we may notify you in the app, on the website, or by other appropriate means.

Google Play Data Safety Summary

This summary is provided to help users understand our Google Play data practices. The exact Data safety form in Google Play Console must match the actual behavior of the app, installed SDKs, permissions, and enabled features.

  • Data processed for app functionality: SMS/MMS data, financial information detected from SMS, app activity, reminders, sender/conversation information, and locally generated insights.

  • Deletion: Users can delete local app data through in-app features where available, Android settings, or by uninstalling the app. Locally generated financial records may remain after original SMS deletion to keep dashboards and transaction history functional unless the user clears app data or deletes those records where supported. Users can contact us for deletion of data voluntarily submitted to support.
  • Optional/required data: Some permissions and data access are required for core SMS and financial analysis features. Edge Light, overlay, call-state, and related foreground service permissions are optional and used only when you enable those features. Advertising choices may vary by region, consent status, device settings, and app version.
  • Edge Light overlay: When enabled, Edge Light displays visual alerts only. It does not collect, record, or transmit screen content from other apps.
